WASHINGTON – The American Securities Association (ASA) today sent a letter to the House Financial Services Capital Markets Subcommittee ahead of its hearing to consider legislation in support of efficient and transparent equity markets.
“ASA thanks Chair Wagner and members of the Subcommittee for their leadership in advancing legislation that protects American investor privacy, restores cost-benefit discipline at the SEC, and acknowledges the threat posed by Communist China to every American investor," said ASA President and CEO Chris Iacovella. “We look forward to being a helpful partner to get these bills to President Trump’s desk and ensuring our capital markets remain the global leader.”
ASA's letter urges Congress to expeditiously pass H.R. 1483 to end the CAT's collection of Americans' personal and financial information, supports the SEC Regulatory Accountability Act and REG Act to codify cost-benefit discipline and rein in regulatory overreach at the SEC, and backs H.R. 3197 to establish an FSOC advisory committee to assess threats to U.S. markets and the broader economy stemming from Chinese aggression over Taiwan.
