WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the American Securities Association (ASA) issued a statement following the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) report released to Congress during the 41st Annual Government-Business Forum on Small Business Capital Formation.
The SEC’s annual Government-Business Forum on Small Business Capital Formation is charged by Congress to provide members of the public and private sectors with the opportunity to gather and provide recommendations that would improve the regulatory environment for small and startup businesses.
“ASA welcomes the report’s recommendations to improve the capital raising framework for America’s small businesses,” ASA CEO Chris Iacovella said. “We support the report recommending the expansion of the accredited investors definition, increasing short sale transparency so companies and investors know who is taking large short positions, and mitigating the impact that climate and ESG proposals will have on small and mid-size companies.”
